SUSTAINABILITY

Why is fast fashion so fucking bad?

The issue

Fashion is one of the most pollutive industries in the world.
We produce more and more garments, yet we wear them less than ever before.
The quality of the garments we produce today is significantly lower than it used to be. Fashion has become a wasteful industry driven by greed without any consideration of our planet.

More than 85% of garments will end up in landfills or get burned, usually in the poorest areas of the world.

Fast fashion companies generate more pollution than international aviation and shipping combined. We do not recycle enough of the produced clothes.
If the garments contain synthetic material it is nearly impossible to recycle and will most likely be burned.

It takes 200 Years for synthetic clothes to decompose
(added bonus, toxic chemicals will release)

Garments are the second highest at-risk product for modern slavery. Many of the fast fashion items bought today have no traceability. The companies that sell them have no idea who made their items and frankly, they don't seem to care. Even if they know who produces their clothes, it is very easy for the factories to use sub-factories with much poorer working enviroments.
Usually this is not known by the brands.

Every second the equivalent of one garbage truck worth of textiles
is burned or dumped in a landfill

If fast fashion were a country, its carbon emissions would rank almost as high as the entire European continent. The emissions derive not only from the manufacturing process itself but also from the shipment of clothing around the world, as well as their disposal.

The solution

We do not want to contribute to these practices, that is why we use no synthetic material at all. We want to make sure all of our items will be recycled after their lifespan. That's why we design products for circularity. We also source all of our materials as close to the Netherlands as possible and use the highest quality materials without any compromises.

Everything we produce contains recycled or organic content, is non-toxic, contains no plastic and can be recycled into new fabrics.

Fuck Fast Fashion takes circularity very serious, which is why we have a take-back program. If you own a garment made by FFF that has no life left, please reach out to: info@fuckfastfashion.nl

We will send you a discount code for your next order. Please see our recycling page for more info.

Fuck Fast Fashion does care. We only produce in the Netherlands.
Here we have a group of skilled craftspeople who earn a fair wage, have health insurance and get holidays off. We work closely with the atelier and make sure all of our products are made by them. No sub-factories or other shady business. This way we have full traceability on all of our products.

We have our complete supply chain within Europe, this means better rules, more transparency and most importantly, lower emmisions.

This is why Fuck Fast Fashion does not only care about what fabric we use, but also where it's from. We reduce carbon emissions by being as local as possible with our fabrics and garment making. We work with one of the best Portugese suppliers, they are constantly innovating and due to their location it is beneficial for us to get our fabrics close to home.
This way we have full traceability in our supply chain.

As you can tell Fuck Fast Fashion has extensive knowledge on sustainability and we try to cut no corners, regardless of costs.
